Mayor of Ellrich, Germany, invites Photon Energy to

Bring Solar Power to the town

Prague, 5 September 2011 – An official ceremony at the City Hall of Ellrich, Thüringen region, Germany, on 31 August 2011 culminated in the authorization for Photon Energy to build a 1 MW photovoltaic installation and thus ensure supply of green energy to the town.

After a visit on the site, which is a former town landfill, representatives of Photon Energy were personally greeted by the Mayor of Ellrich in the City Hall. Having clarified final details regarding the future solar power plant, Matthias Ehrhold, Ellrich’s Bürgermeister, and Peter Romanowski, Photon Energy’s Country Head for Germany, signed and sealed the agreement to complete the construction of the solar park in the presence of local media.

Then, a friendly handshake followed, indicating an opportunity for potential further cooperation.

“A solar park puts the brownfield of the former landfill area to a great use. In Ellrich, we are happy to mark the first open field installation of Photon Energy in Germany”, enthused Mayor Ehrhold.

Home to 3,000 people, Ellrich is a typical German town with an 800-year-old history just 1 kilometre away from the former border between East and West Germany. The plot for construction is located within the precincts of the town, enablingits dwellers to use the electricity produced from the sun in their everyday lives.

“This project is a definite step forward in our strategy to become a recognized player on the German PV market”, announced Peter Romanowski. “Photon Energy remains committed to its aspiration to Bring Solar Power to the People!”

The event was attended and reported by local German media, one of the publications can be found here.
